Upon arrival, Minister Tovar convened with prominent Israeli political leaders to discuss collaborative opportunities. His initial engagement with Oded Forer, Israel’s Minister of Agriculture, showcased potential areas for partnership. Joined by Rita Hernández, Costa Rica’s Ambassador to Israel, and Dyana Cordero, Director of the Procomer office in Israel and Greece, this meeting emphasized the dynamic avenues for cooperation.
A significant gesture symbolizing the burgeoning trade relations was Minister Tovar presenting Minister Forer with a pineapple from the inaugural shipment of Costa Rican pineapple imports to Israel. This act celebrated the culmination of a bilateral agreement forged by sustained collaborative efforts since 2017. As the leading global exporter of fresh pineapples, Costa Rica identifies Israel as a vital market for its agricultural products.
Complementing these commercial endeavors, Minister Tovar, alongside Rodrigo Chaves, President of Costa Rica, and Arnoldo André, Foreign Minister, visited the Israelite Zionist Center of Costa Rica before their departure to Israel. This visit aimed to fortify connections with Israel and the local Jewish community, reaffirming the nations’ dedication to nurturing their longstanding friendship.
