Pulmuone, a leading Korean food company, achieved the first ‘K-FOOD&SAFETY’ certification for its kimchi and Seoul Ramyeon products. This milestone propels Pulmuone to the forefront of K-food’s international expansion, reflecting the rising global interest in Korean cuisine.
Pulmuone (CEO Lee Hyo-yul) recently announced that four of its products, ‘Pulmuone Nasoya Kimchi Mild,’ ‘Pulmuone Nasoya Kimchi Spicy,’ ‘Pulmuone Seoul Ramyeon,’ and ‘Pulmuone Seoul Jjajang,’ have received the ‘K-FOOD&SAFETY’ certification. This achievement underscores the company’s dedication to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, as verified by the Korea Agency of HACCP Accreditation and Services.
The rigorous certification process involved extensive evaluations, including food safety tests, on-site inspections, and verification of Korean production. The Korea Food Research Institute conducted preliminary safety inspections, which covered physicochemical and microbiological tests. These steps ensure Pulmuone’s products are safe and authentically Korean, enhancing their credibility and competitiveness on the global stage.
Pulmuone’s KFS-certified products are set to make a substantial impact in the US market. From August, ‘Pulmuone Seoul Ramyeon’ and ‘Pulmuone Seoul Jjajang’ will be available in over 130 large Korean stores, such as H-MART, across the US. Additionally, ‘Nasoya Kimchi’ Mild and Spicy products will reach major US mainstream markets, including Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Albertsons, and Safeway, from late September.
A strategic partnership with SEOUL Trading USA, the largest export-import distribution company in North America, supports this expansion. An MOU signed between the Korea Agency of HACCP Accreditation and Services and SEOUL Trading USA on July 25 aims to extend the reach of certified Korean food products in North America, advancing the globalization of K-food.
Pulmuone’s efforts to promote Korean cuisine extend beyond certification and distribution. The company actively engages in local promotional activities in the US. On July 26, Pulmuone hosted a promotional event and tasting for its KFS-certified Nasoya Kimchi products at ShopRite in Palisades Park, New Jersey, highlighting the distinctive qualities and flavors of its offerings.
Sang-yun Lee, Chief of Technology Officer of Pulmuone, expressed pride in the company’s achievements, stating, “We are very pleased to be a leading participant in the ‘K-Food&Safety’ certification project guaranteed by the Korean government to globalize Korean food. Pulmuone will continue to expand KFS-certified products and strive to promote the quality and excellence of Korean food worldwide.”
The Korea Agency of HACCP Accreditation and Services plans to extend KFS certification to products from other Korean food companies, contributing to the global proliferation of K-food and bolstering the export competitiveness of Korean food companies.
