Marking a pivotal moment for Kazakhstan’s maritime sector, AD Ports Group alongside KazMunayGas have inked a Heads of Terms agreement for a cutting-edge ship building and repair facility in Mangistau. This deal, witnessed by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, underscores its strategic value.
AD Ports Group, renowned for global trade, logistics, and industrial facilitation, joins forces with KazMunayGas, the top oil and gas company in Kazakhstan. Their collaboration aims to revolutionize the maritime scene within the Caspian Sea Region. The planned facility promises an array of services, spanning drydocking, afloat repairs, shipbuilding, and refurbishment, catering to diverse vessel types including bulk carriers, container ships, tankers, offshore vessels, and ferries.
This venture signifies a major expansion for Caspian Integrated Maritime Solutions (CIMS), the joint venture between AD Ports Group and KMG. Beyond augmenting the CIMS fleet, this shipyard will extend its services to third-party clients, thus elevating Kazakhstan’s maritime capacity and establishing the Caspian Sea Region as a key maritime hub.
Captain Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, underlined the partnership’s role in enhancing maritime services and spurring economic growth across Kazakhstan and its surrounding areas. Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Chairman of KazMunayGas, shared his optimism for the partnership’s impact on strengthening international relations and expressed commitment to leveraging AD Ports Group’s ship repair expertise.
Additionally, the agreement sets the stage for more joint ventures, including the introduction of new vessel services under CIMS. This showcases a firm commitment from both entities to bolster Kazakhstan’s maritime sector. With this collaboration, a new chapter in Central Asian maritime excellence begins, heralding significant economic and strategic collaborations in the region.
