The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has launched the SheTrades India Hub, an initiative aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and strengthening India’s export ecosystem, with the goal of achieving $1 trillion in exports by 2030. The initiative, introduced in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and supported by the UK Government’s SheTrades Commonwealth Program, positions FIEO as the host institution for the 20th SheTrades Hub globally.
Empowering Women Entrepreneurs
The SheTrades India Hub serves as a comprehensive resource platform designed to support women entrepreneurs through capacity-building workshops, tailored training on international trade practices, mentorship programs, and business matchmaking events. These initiatives aim to connect women-led enterprises with global buyers and investors, enhancing their opportunities in international markets.

Speaking at the launch event, Director General of Foreign Trade Santosh Kumar Sarangi emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive trade environment. He highlighted that the Trade Connect platform, in collaboration with the ITC SheTrades India Hub, would further promote the growth of women-led exports. Sarangi also suggested that the government’s Export Promotion Mission could integrate strategies to complement the initiative. He urged FIEO and ITC to enroll at least three lakh women entrepreneurs through this platform.
ITC Executive Director Pamela Coke-Hamilton underscored the global impact of SheTrades Hubs, noting their role in supporting thousands of women entrepreneurs worldwide. She expressed confidence that the SheTrades India Hub would equip Indian women entrepreneurs with essential tools and networks to succeed in global trade.

FIEO President Ashwani Kumar described the initiative as a transformative step in India’s trade ecosystem, unlocking the untapped potential of women entrepreneurs in international markets. Ajay Sahai, Director General and CEO of FIEO, also highlighted the increasing role of women in India’s manufacturing sector, particularly in export-driven industries such as textiles and handicrafts. He affirmed that initiatives like SheTrades are instrumental in providing market access and skill development, fostering both economic and social impact.
Upcoming Training Sessions
As part of its commitment to skill enhancement, the SheTrades Commonwealth+ Program will organize a ‘Training of Trainers’ session on branding and digital marketing on March 17-18, 2025, followed by a dedicated training session for women-led businesses on March 19-20 in New Delhi. These sessions aim to equip entrepreneurs with crucial skills to strengthen their international market presence.
