Muhammad Azam Khan, the Interim Chief Minister, underscored the vital role of the Rashakai Special Economic Zone (RSEZ) within the context of Pakistan’s impending regional and international trade prospects at a ceremony on Friday. Completion of the inaugural phase of RSEZ signifies a pivotal step towards fortifying Pakistan’s economic robustness, simultaneously advancing the mission of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Serving as the main guest at the commemoration, the Chief Minister envisaged the RSEZ as a pivotal pathway towards global commerce, with promises of amplified trade activity and burgeoning job opportunities for skilled professionals. A distinguished assembly marked their presence at the event, consisting of Barrister Feroz Jamal Shah Kakakhel, Manzoor Afridi, Pir Haroon Shah, and Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, amongst other senior officials.
A presentation unveiled the specifics of RSEZ’s first phase, showcasing an expanse spread across 247 acres, housing 18 active enterprises, supplemented by seven more under construction. An influx of approximately $85 billion is projected within this phase.
Azam Khan lauded the fruitful culmination of the economic zone, symbolizing the robust fellowship shared between Pakistan and China. He emphasized the mutual aspiration toward collective progress and prosperity held by both nations.
“As we reflect on the past, CPEC has been a transformative force, creating a part of progress and prosperity for Pakistan. This ambitious project launched in 2013 has opened new avenues for the cooperation between China and Pakistan, fostering economic development, connectivity, and regional integration,” expressed Khan.
The solid groundwork laid by the CPEC, according to Khan, catalyzed a decade of enriching collaboration and created an abundance of opportunities for the people of Pakistan.
This event served as a dual-purpose celebration, marking the completion of RSEZ’s primary phase and acknowledging the invaluable input of the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company. Their unwavering commitment, tenacity, and expertise played a crucial role in actualizing the ambitious vision of the special economic zone.
Peering into the future, the Chief Minister articulated his confidence in the persistent expansion of RSEZ as a nucleus for innovation, technology, and industry.
“As we move forward into the next phase of the economic zone, I am confident that Rashakai’s special economic zone will continue to thrive as the hub of innovation, technology, and industry,” he affirmed.
