Ukrainian apples have officially entered Indian markets, marking a noteworthy development in the growing trade relationship between India and Ukraine. The Embassy of Ukraine in India announced the arrival of the first batch in Delhi, underscoring a strengthening of bilateral trade ties and expanding agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
The shipment, comprising high-quality apples, successfully cleared all Indian regulatory inspections. The Embassy of Ukraine highlighted the collaborative efforts behind this achievement, involving the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

In a post on X, the Embassy stated, “Ukrainian Apples in India: Strengthening Bilateral Trade Ties – The 1st batch of Ukrainian apples has successfully arrived in India! This milestone is part of joint efforts by the Emb. of Ukraine in India, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. We thank Ukrainian producers for delivering high-quality products that met all inspection requirements under Indian regulations and were highly appreciated by the Indian side. This achievement expands the geography of Ukrainian agricultural exports, reinforcing Ukraine’s role as a reliable supplier of premium-quality produce.”
The initiative further reflects Ukraine’s strategic push to diversify its agricultural exports. By entering new markets like India, Ukraine aims to enhance its economic resilience and global reach as a trusted supplier of fresh produce. For India, the import offers greater variety for consumers and contributes to a broader spectrum of agricultural trade.

Trade between India and Ukraine has been steadily growing. Between January and September 2024, bilateral trade totaled $1.45 billion. Ukraine’s exports to India accounted for $0.58 billion, while imports from India reached $0.87 billion.
Ukraine primarily exports vegetable-origin fats and oils ($389.5 million), maize ($70.4 million), dried legumes ($21 million), and anthracite coal ($10.4 million) to India. On the other hand, India supplies Ukraine with pharmaceutical products ($117.3 million), mineral fuels and petroleum products ($80.1 million), used rubber tires ($18.9 million), electrical machinery ($18.5 million), and flat-rolled steel ($17.3 million).
